My Melbourne Holiday Trip Diary
Thursday 25th August - Day One
This morning Mum woke me up at 3:17am. I got up and got ready to leave. We ended up leaving at fourish. When I got to the airport I went to check in for my flight and found that my flight had been cancelled, because the plane that was meant to be flying to Melbourne didn't come to Christchurch because there was too much fog so it went up to Wellington instead. So I had to catch a plane to Sydney (at 6 rather than 6:40) and wait in Sydney for three hours, then catch a plane to Melbourne. I finally got to Melbourne at 12:45pm Australia time. As soon as I got out of the plane Nicole, Paula and Terry (Nicole's Mum and Dad) were waiting for me. Then we were walking along and Terry goes "hey there's Vesna" and I stopped and watched her walk by and then I started shouting "hey look! There's Vesna from Big Brother!" quite loudly hoping that she would turn around and go "hi how's it goin?!?" but she didn't, she just ran away.
Then we went to Red Rooster for lunch which Nicole said would taste like arse, cos she used to work there. Its a takeaway kind of like KFC except they make everything fresh so it takes about half an hour once you've made your order. Then we went to look at their new house what is being built at the moment. After that we came home and then went to a mall called Cento Mornington (in Mornington) to return some pants that were too small.
Brett and Micheal and Nicole were making fun of my accent and Brett said that I sound cool. That's quite unusual. They're the ones with the accent. I'm kind of like Colin Frissell excpet not really... in some ways (he's from Love Actually "look out America, here comes Colin Frissell... AND HE'S GOT A BIG KNOBBBBBB!!")
Anyway, then we had my all time favourite food for tea... chicken enchiladas - yum!
Then we watched my all time favourite movie - Love Actually, but we ended up talking all the way through it.
That is all for today. :--)
Friday 25th August - Day Two
This morning me and Nicole woke up at 6:20am. Well Nicole thought I was hiding under a pillow crying. I wasn't. I actually sleep with a pillow over my head, and I was sniffing a bit cos I was coming down with the Australian cold. So then she asked me if I'm okay, and then we ended up talking.
But anyway, we caught the Portsea bus to Frankston where we went to Gloria Jeans coffee to have a really nice creamy hot cocoa and a slice. I had a mousse trio slice , which was so chocolatey it made me gag. Nicole had a caramel slice. Then we went to the Frankston train station to catch a train to somewhere near Southlands Mall. That was the first time I've ever been on a train. Apparently you're not allowed to use the public toilets at the train station. Because of the heroin addicts. They play soft music to get rid of them.
Well anyway then we walked from the trainstation to Southlands Mall, which is one of the biggest malls in Australia. Mr Gwatkin told me. It goes across the road and all over the place. Its massive! On the way we had to stop and get bandaids cos I had blisters cos of my new jandals I bought at Sydney Airport. Anyway the main purpose of going to Southlands was to find something for Nicole to wear the next day. But I ended up buying heaps of clothes and a little bit of presents and some really cool ug boots and stuff. So Nicole was pretty mad that she couldn't find anything to buy, so she bought me a really nice jacket as an early birthday present. Then we caught the train back to Frankston, and we went to Frankston Mall and Nicole found a really nice pink (even though she hates pink) sparkly top in a shop called Syndicate and a pair of jeans at Just Jeans.
Then we got picked up and met Uncle Steven. That is all for now.
Saturday 27th August - Day Three
Today is Nicole's birthday. The big one eight. Well Nicole took me into her work which is at a nursing home so she could show me around and i could meet some of her residents and workmates.
Today we went to a tattoo parlour in Frankston because Nicole was getting a tattoo done of a rose on her right shoulder blade. She was really nervous about it. When she went onto the operating table thingie I thought she was going to chicken out because she tried to run away. But she didn't. In the end it looked really good. It was a big rose. A purple one. Pretty.
After the tattoo thing we all went to the Mornington Pub where Nicole bought her first drink which wasn't even for her it was for someone else. She was really angry cos they didn't even ask her for ID.
Then we came home to get ready for the dinner which was at a fancy resturaunt called The Rocks which was in Mornington. When we got there I met some of Nicole's friends from her old school - Alex, Bec (twins), Ilona, Corrina, Lee and Niall. Also her friends from work - Amanda, Casey, Peg and Nuala. I earnt a nickname from Peg and Nuala - Ralph and Corrina drew on my face and they all made fun of my accent. It was great fun. After that all us young fellas went back to Nicole's house to drink. After a while Lee and Ilona went home and everyone else went to bed and me and Niall watched the last fifteen minutes of the All Blacks vs South Africa game and we won :--) Then we all went to sleep. And nothing else whatsoever happened.
Sunday 28th August - Day Four
Today we had a lazy day. Bec and Slex went home in the morning and Niall, Corrina, Micheal and I played Halo 2, a game which I hate very much. Anytime someone killed me (which was quite often) Micheal would say "don't be mean to New Zealanders, you stupid Australian"
Then Corrina went home, then we played Burnout 2, my favourite game. Then Niall went home. Then me and Nicole went to Bentons Square and we had Charcoal Chicken for lunch, which smells a whole lot better than it tastes. And we got out some DVDs. Then we came home and watched them.
Cool
Monday 29th August - Day Five
Today we went to Sorento, a beach kinda place. We went to the beach and I got some pretty shells that I will have to sneak back to New Zealand. A bit like how Mr Gwatkin took Gold Coast sand back with him (why the hell do I keep referring to Mr Gwatkin???!?!?!?!?) It was a really nice beach and Nicole and I climbed up the rocks. It was fun. Then we went to a candy shop and bought some chocolate rocks that actually look like little pebbles (not the candy ones, real pebbles what you find in the gravel, they should so be the new "pebbles"). Then we went to TOP FUN Family Fun Centre and Mini Golf Courses. In the first game we had I was the only one to get any holes in one, and I got two of them, but they were random lucky kind of flukey cos I lost the game in the end.
In the second game I lost again.
Then we came home.
Tuesday 30th August - Day Six
Today we went to Melbourne Zoo. My favourite animals were the baby orang-utan who's name was Menyaru. It was georgous! Also I liked the meerkats cos they were really cute and friendly. Then I fell asleep on the way home.
Wednesday 31st August - Day Seven
Today we went to Pizza Hut all you can eat. Mmmmmm yummy. I accidentally left the banana ice cream running (I didn't know you had to push the knob back up okay, well you don't have to with the ones over here!) so there was a big mountain of ice cream on the thingie.
That was my day.
Thursday 1st September - Day Eight
Today is the first day of the new month and spring is here, which means summer's nearly here, which means autumn's on its way, which means winter is coming, and before you know it, it'll be the first day of spring and a whole year would've passed.
Today I talked to my family on the phone. It was nice.
Friday 2nd September - Day Nine
Today I tripped over Nicole's fuck me boot and pretty much broke my foot, it has a big lump and a brusise and it really hurts and I can't walk. Hmm... maybe I'll get travel insurance for it. Did you know that if you die on your trip your family gets $15,000 but if you get personal liability (whatever the hell that is...) you get $1million. I don't know what the hell it is but it definitely doesn't sound as bad as dying!
Saturday 3rd September - Day 10
Today Nicole worked from 7-3 and I couldn't even visit her on her break cos I can't walk. Tonight we made a one and a half hour trip to the city (Melbourne) and sight saw. I saw the Yarra River and a tiny part of the All Blacks vs Australia game (which we won which meant we won the tri-nations:--) )which was on a big screen in a park somewhere. We went to Crown which is a hotel but it has a really fancy mall and light shows and chandeliers and water features and a food court and a cinema. We went to the food court for tea, and I had a chicken tandori deli choice and a frozen coke and raspberry (they're really really good, I don't think we have them in New Zealand) from Maccas. I found out that it is impossible for me to say "chicken tandori" so I will never order one of those again. In the food court there was this giant Colonel's head next to KFC and I thought it was hilarious so I took a photo :--)
Then Nicole, Micheal and I went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Which was really really funny - its so much better than the original. Jonny Depp is so hilarious - although he kind of looks like Michael Jackson.
Sunday 4th Spetember - Day 11
Today I had to go home :--( Nicole cried when I left, and I almost (almost) did too. The plane trip was a good one, the chief flight attendant - Bernie - was brilliant. I will definitely fly Pacific Blue/ Virgin Blue again. He was dissing Australians the whole flight, and told us this funny joke. Also the whole plane played this game - each side of the plane started with a full roll of toilet paper, and you had to hold the end of it, and it unravelled as it went down the plane, and the first one to the end won. My side started off in the lead, but then we got let down somewhere in the middle. It was really bumpy coming into Christchurch, and I was getting really panicky. Bernie was allright looking too, he had a weird name, but he was easy on the eyes.
